Harrogate & District Tennis League 2013

Latest News

DIVISION 5 WITHDRAWAL:

Harrogate Racquets D have withdrawn from Division 5, citing a lack of female players. As a consequence, only one team will be relegated from Division 5 at the end of the season.

HDTL Tournament 2013:

The Harrogate & District Tennis League Annual Tournament will be held from Sunday 9th June to Saturday 15th June 2013.

DIVISION 6 WITHDRAWALS:

Captains of teams in Division 6 should note that both Dacre B and West Tanfield B have withdrawn from the League.

Dinner Dance and Trophy Presentation 2013:

The Annual Dinner Dance and Trophy Presentation will be held once again at The Bridge, Walshford, on Friday 4 October. Again, please display the flyer sent to your Club on yoiur noticeboard.

Since the event has been held at The Bridge for several years, the Committee looked at the possibility of moving to a more central Harrogate venue, but were deterred by the prices asked. The Bridge is good value and ideal for our requirements.

Harrogate & District Tennis League
Annual General Meeting 2013:

The AGM was held at: HARROGATE RACQUETS CLUB on Monday 12 February 2013 at 7.45 pm.

Main points:

  1. Boston Spa Tennis Club was admitted to the League and will enter a team in Division 6
  2. Only 1 team relegated from each of Divisions 1-5 following last season, with two teams promoted (Divs 2-6)
  3. Division 6 will continue as last season with 13 teams
  4. Matches on courts at 'split' venues will have Format 2.1.1 throughout the season.

Sponsorship:

We are fortunate that Cardale Asset Management have agreed to continue their sponsorship for a 5th season. This will be their final contribution, and we appreciate the financial stability it has given the League.

The Committee is seeking further sponsorship from any local business for the period from 2014 onwards

  • Match format

The Fixture List specifies a standard format for each match:

    • Format 2-2-1 – Two sets to 6 in the first 2 rounds, one set to 6 in the third round. This is the standard format for matches played on long evenings or where floodlights are available.
    • Format 2-1-1 – Two sets to 6 in the first round, one set to 6 in the second and third rounds. This format to be used at the start and end of the season where floodlights are not available. IT WAS AGREED AT THE 2013 AGM THAT ALL MATCHES PLAYED AT COURTS SPLIT BETWEEN TWO VENUES WILL FOLLOW THIS FORMAT.

The two team captains can agree to play a match to any format, but the format specified in the Fixture List will apply otherwise.

All matches start at 6.30pm, except at Wetherby B (5.00pm). Please be ready to start play at these times. All matches must be played by August 31.

Read Rule 25 on the eligibility of players before selecting teams at the start of the season. Eligibilities are shown on the website www.hdtl.co.uk under Fixtures/Results then Individuals. Please return match result cards IMMEDIATELY after the match, either by post or (preferably) scanned and sent by email to ianhargreaves1@ntlworld.com. Handbooks will be issued at the rate of 8 per team.

Consult this League website for results and tables, usually updated daily throughout the season, and for handbook amendments of team contacts. If you have not already done so, please let me know your team captains by the end of March.
